Testimonials

Han’s family is one of my best family friends in the US. Although I only knew them and got connected with them in the last year of my graduate school in the OSU, the support and love they had given to me was incredible. It was the toughest year, with them I was able to enjoy my life even during the hardship and became a better person as I grew with them. Their warmth, kindness, patience and wisdom gave me and continuously gives me strength, courage and love to live my life. They were able to help me know American culture more in depth while they had a good understanding about the cultural differences. I love them and will always treat them as my family.

Hi! I am Petra from Finland. My exchange year at OSU in 2016-2017 wouldn’t have been the same without the Han family. They are such great hosts and lovely people. I remember spending many evenings over at their house playing games, eating good food and learning new things about different cultures. They for sure have a gift of bringing people from different cultures together. The Hans felt like a family when my own family was on the other side of the world. I’m so grateful for all of the memories and the impact they have made in my life by being so encouraging and supportive.

Hi! I am Utkarsh from India. I was a doctoral student at OSU from 2014-2018. I have known the Han family since 2015, we met through a retreat, and I am grateful that I got connected with them as they are one of the nicest and loveliest family friends one can desire to find, who will help you every step of the way to get you through your hardships of graduate life.  My graduate life wouldn’t have been the same without them. They love to host students (sometimes more than once a month) from different cultural background, bring them together, which also gave me an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends with whom I share deep connections. I remember spending many evenings at their house eating delicious food (especially the variety of freshly baked bread the Han kids would bake), playing games like Mafia, Werewolf, Jenga or karaoke. The Han’s open their hearts and make you feel like family. It is a home away from home. I particularly remember one retreat weekend to Austin, that brought me closer to the Han family. Our conversations about various cultures and their differences helped me increase my knowledge about the American culture and deal with some of the cultural shocks that hit me when I moved here. I love the Han family, as they not only welcomed me in their hearts and home, but also made my family (parents and sister) feel the same way, when they hosted me and my family and threw me a graduation/farewell party. I will always be thankful for getting the opportunity to know them. I also miss having is one-on-one lunch with Chuck Han, his point of view and encouraging and supportive conversations have impacted my life and helped me become a better person. I love them and they will always be my family away from home. I strongly recommend Home of Nations (HON) house to any and all international graduate students, who are a little homesick and want to find a warm and loving family. I can assure you it will be a memorable experience of a lifetime.

I have known the Han’s family for over 12 years now. I met Chuck and Holly at the Chinese church when I first came to the U.S. Holly was the English teacher for our youth Bible class. I was inspired by the spiritual experiences and life stories Holly shared with me in and out of class. Later on I went to OSU, and kept in touch with the Han’s family. I enjoyed playing with their kids, arts & crafts, eating dinner, or just hanging outdoors. During some really tough times of my life, Holly never hesitated to offer help and emotional support. She became like a mentor/sister to me. Chuck was busy with work a lot, but when he was around, I could see how faithful and respectful he is with his wife and kids. In the last few years, the Han family has been involved with a variety of international students from OSU. I think it’s very generous of them to continue to open up their lives to students who don’t have their own families here. They are the perfect host family and I can’t wait to see what God does next in their life!

Being freind with Han’s family brings me the unique experience of the fantastic blend of American culture and Chinese culture, just like Jeet Kune do mixing WingChun and western styles martial arts. Here you can speak both english and chinese, you can enjoy the chinese food and american food, and you can make more friends from both China and America. You will also experience lots of new things, from new religion believes to new receips of make a delicious soup. You will love this uniques experice that Han’s family will bring to you!

Spending time at Han’s house was definitely a favorite ‘habit’ to me back in Stillwater. There is no need to put into words how kind or great they are, you just need to meet them. They treat people with genuine big hearts. Looking back on those days, we had so many parties and dinners, we chat, chat and chat until everyone need to go back with sleepy eyes. Just realized a lot of them were hosted by the Hans. How generous! It’s hard to count how many other friends I met at Han’s house. Many of them became good friends to me. Also, hanging out with the daddy to football games, tossing football around at tailgating, playing with three awesome kids in their backyard or at house or on a road trip, or listening the mommy sharing life stories are the things that easily took me out of school stress and gave me a taste of home. Surely miss them all.

Hi there! I’m Reagan from the United States. My time as a student at Oklahoma State was greatly impacted by the Han family. Their heart to serve others is made evident through the way they engage students from all over the world. I have seen them in action through serving alongside them in international ministry and I have learned many things from following their lead. I had so much fun learning about different cultures with international students in their home. I am truly looking forward to seeing the Home of Nations open and be a place where people from all backgrounds can come together!

We met the Han family at church about 10 years ago. Holly and her husband were very kind and welcoming. Our kids instantly became friends. And soon we were planning playdates for the kids. Through all the years of knowing the Han family I know that they love to serve the international student community.

I had the fortune of being befriended by the Han family while I was attending school at OSU. I was invited to numerous lunches and dinners at their lovely home, which gave me an opportunity to get to know more about the American way of life and meet people from many other cultures. Also, it was always a pleasure to have deep conversations with Chuck and Holly, and spend time playing with their kids. It’s been more than 2 years since I graduated and moved to a different city but they still make it a point to keep in touch, which goes on to show their genuineness to build lifelong friendships. Anyone who interacts with them can see this goodness in their hearts and character. I am sure anyone who stays at the Home of Nations will have a really fulfilling experience.
